Problem with bras?
Hiya. During my teen years, the bra size wasn’t hard to find, and I was measured in the stores. Unfortunately, I’m now 27 and the ‘teen’ bras are out the window. So I was measured again, and was given one whole rack full of bras and told that these are my size. My size, my arse! The straps and ribcage band is perfect – the problem is that the cups are running on empty. I look down, and there’s huge gaps between the breast and the cup. When I touch them, the cups literally collapse, and it looked like I deflated my boobs. I tried to buy more a size smaller – I ended up with red marks on my ribs and shoulders. This goes for sport bras, underwires, seamless, padded/nonpadded, and all types of materials. I’m stuck in between the ‘corset’ bras and perfect bands with huge cups! Advice??
Unfortunately, you just have to try some things on and see what works.
Usually, what I do is measure under the arms and above the breasts to get your band size, then measure around the fullest part of your breasts to get your cup size, each inch above your band measurement is a cup size. So, if your measurement is 38 around the top and 41 around the bust, then your bra size would be 38 C.
Now, each bra company is different, so start with what your measurement size is and gauge where it doesn’t fit to move to the next size. For example, if you go up a band size, you’ll most likely then also want to go down a cup size: if your measurement is a 36C, but it’s not big enough in the band, you’ll want to try a 38B. The same holds true for the reverse: if the band size is too big, you’ll want to go down in the band size and up in the cups, so a 36C would become a 34D. Hope this makes some sense.
