Why does the rubber on my flashlight smell smokey and how can I get rid of the smell?
I just bought a brand new non-brand flashlight from Meijer. I opened the packaging and the rubber grip reeks of a smoky smell. I assume this is because it is made in China and they are likely to put some These horrible chemicals in there. How do I eliminate the smell. I left it out for two dys and it still reeks every time I pass by.
This is What I want to try: scrub it with baking soda, and then let it sit, still covered it for a day or so. Baking soda is very large interesting and odors, and should not damage it in any way. Just do not let any of them accidentally get into the battery compartment. If you do not, then it may just be the chemicals used in making rubber itself, and you just stuck with it. Good luck.
